Hello from Kansas. I've been a fan of the Carbine for a number of years but bought one only recently. My Inland is 5,214,099 with a General Motors barrel date of 4/44. Given that the serial number is stamped on the stock, I suspected it might have spent time in Israel. It has a faint marking on the underside of the barrel "Davidsons Greensboro NC" So I contacted Davidsons HQ in Arizona, provided them with the serial number, and asked where the rifle came from and when was it imported?  They replied that they did not have the exact date, but that it was imported in the early 1990's from Israel. I'm looking forward to learning more about carbines and appreciate all the effort that went into this site. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum from Lower Central Michigan.
I believe your Carbine would have been imported before the 90's by Davidsons while still in North Carolina. I think they moved to Arizona in 90 (?) the Import / Export page found behind the top header will tell IIRC, look for the Davidsons Import stamp and info. There's a lot of good info there in case you haven't found it yet.

The Israelis were known to take good care of these arms. Enjoy your 1st and learn to load your pictures here, we can't see them.

Does it happen to have a stamped circle on the stock with the number 50 or 100 near the Recoil Plate?

I have looked all over the stock and can find no markings like this, no numbers at all besides the aforementioned serial number on the left hand side. 

Just a note: there is a "M-U" on the oiler ramp which according to the website, would have been manufactured by Marlin for Underwood. Since the rifle is an Inland I'm guessing the stock was replaced.

painter777 - I lived in Lansing for 5 years when I worked for Olds/GM... Thats one reason I wanted to find an Inland reciever with a matching barrel... "General Motors"

My company painted the addition built on to the grand river assembly plant. Olds was gone by then. Lots of work on the Grand Rapids stamping, Fisher in Lansing, Filthy Flint- truck/bus etc. Thousands of gallons and Thousands of $$ in OSHA fines  Angry
And every White Collar office they have.
I'm about 15-miles East of the Capitol. Williamston.

And yes to M-U meaning...

Yep, I was there thru the early to mid 90's so I got to see everything the way it used to be. It looked totally different afer they demo'ed a bunch of the buildings. Strangely, they still havent touched what we knew as "Building 70" which is the Oldsmobile administration building at 920 Townsend. Its fenced off and they seem to use it as a big billboard for Cadillac (at least when I look at it on Google street view). I dont remember ever going to Williamston but we used to go to Frankenmuth at least once a year, usually around Christmas. I liked it up there, just the winters were too long.

920 Townsend is the Lansing Grand River Assembly, all was redone since 99-2000~ then added on, that's where we came in. We just called it LGR. It's where they assemble the Caddies. Number 1 million I believe back in 2012 or 13. Always changing, added a new plant south of Lansing some years back and building a new battery plant now. Recall the Fisher Body on Verlinden Ave? We put a ton of man hours with other trades in it in the early 2004~ range just to see them Demo it all in 2007 or 8.
Williamston is on Grand River about 8 miles East of East Lansing. Not big..... but we have a traffic light.
Winters seem longer every year, you'll hear me complain.

Good looking Carbine Mad-Max.
IMO The Israeli returns are one of the most interesting.
I always wonder if one goes back as far as the 1948 Arab - Israeli War, but would have no idea how to research it.

I like the Marlin stocks, Is it a good shooter?

Why I wonder is because of reading in Wiki:

And, because of their compact size and semi-automatic capabilities, they continued to be used by Israeli Defence Forces after the creation of Israel. That section has no footnotes.  I poked around looking for a page discussoin or who/when that was written, but no luck.  That said, someone who knows their way around wikipedia can probably figure out when it was written and who made this statement.

edit. reading the Wiki about Palmach it further seems the claim is unlikely.  How would they be getting US arms?

Thanks Ch-P777, I got to go shoot it for the 2nd time today. First time was 2 weeks ago and I discovered the extractor was worn out and wouldnt grab the casings. So I ordered a USGI extractor from Numrich, a  tool kit (bolt tool included) and new ejector & plunger. Installed those last night went shooting today. Shoots good. I was able to get 4 out of 5 shots almost touching... now, this was only 25 yards (indoor range because it was rainy today) One thing I discovered is the rear aperture will move in the elevation slide due to recoil, so that can throw things off. But overall I'm feeling pretty good about the purchase. Came with a reproduction sling and oiler and 2 legit USGI mags ("UI" and "IA") for under $1100 from GB.

If you are pushing the rear sight aperture all the way forward past the 1 (100) marking it will always move back up when firing. Forward of the 1 (100) mark is not a sight setting as there is no detent to hold the aperture in place.
