Trying to find out who manufactured this receiver. Three digit serial number, normal style receiver ring markings. GI compatible parts.
Recoil spring guide area has interrupted open areas where the spring is visible from bottom of receiver. Has a milled rear sight and the serial number is at the normal serial number location, but is light. No other marks visible underneath the rear sight. Searched the club sight but I couldn't find anything like it. Thank you, Peter Maybe National Ordnance, but doesn't totally fit the look or description ? Has a Blue Sky import marked Winchester barrel .

I'm the author of the info you see on the commercial carbine web pages. National Ordnance, Alpine, and RIA made the type of receiver you described. The 3 digit serial number located on top of the receiver behind the rear sight was only done by RIA. For everything other than the receiver, RIA used whatever surplus was available. Have a look at: http://www.m1carbinesinc.com/carbine_rockisland.html Jim |
