Finally found again.
We moved 4 years ago and all sorts of books including the children's comics ended up in the attic.
We have an 1820's house with 2 attics.
During Christmas, my son of 24 asked where his old comic books had ended up during the move.
They are in boxes in the small attic.
Yesterday he sorted them out and now it turns out those boxes included War Baby 1 and 2 and more M1 Carbine books. While moving, family members helped and of course asked where should the books go. Answer put them in a box and we will sort it out later.
So I end up not searching a box that says comic books.
Anyway to make a long story short it concerns War Baby 1 first edition(State inside cover) and War baby 2 first edition(state inside cover).
War Baby 1 is signed with last name Barnes if I read it right. Important or just gift for someone?

I have War Baby and War Baby II from my carbine collecting days.  I just checked on the book seller that I use and was surprised.  https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?an=Larry%20Ruth&bi=0&bx=off&cm_sp=SearchF-_-Advs-_-Result&ds=30&prc=USD&recentlyadded=all&rgn=ww&rollup=on&sortby=20&tn=War%20Baby&xdesc=off&xpod=off

If you bought the book directly from Larry he would sign it to the buyer, however the Scotty Barnes signature is just marking it as his property.

USMC69, Preceding Larry's passing, the publisher passed and the family closed the business. This made the supply appear finite and people panic bought which raised the prices.
There are book mercenaries that will list on places like Abe's and Amazon with ridiculous prices. If you are willing to pay that price they will source the book for you. Doing your own search and if time is not an issue you can get them more reasonable.
The Ruth family retains the copyright. Once done with the estate we will address getting a new publisher.

Prices are all over the place.  Almost all references books that are out of print fall into this category.  I tend to kee a running tab on things like this.  That way the Grandkids & my Daughter don't put them out at a yard sale for $0.50-$1.00 a piece.........

very smart and could easily happen if family just simply didn't know , if something were to happen to you. I do the same thing using an inventory book system. It's got what I paid for everything and sometimes I'll make a note and update it and write down how much some things have went up or down. My son definitely knows that if something happens to me that that inventory book is the key to everything he wants to know about the collection. I don't have the war baby books yet but I do have a lot of original manuals. I could see the wife selling those at a yard sale for a quarter a piece haha

I think I better start caring for my set a little more carefully! I wonder what his first book would go for? I have that one too.
