This second block INLAND carbine has a high-wood stock that was manufactured for the National Postal Meter company. In July of 1943 it was requested that NPM transfer 1,000 stocks to INLAND. This is one of those stocks. It was made for NPM by the Trimble Nurseryland Furniture Company and stamped Trimble over TN in the sling cut. The transfer marks added were 'I' and 'T.I.'

Interesting stock variation. Looks like it took a while for it to wind up in a finished carbine (July to November).

Does the Hand Guard have a Bomb stamp to the right of the retainer tab?
Can't clearly see in the picture.

I would have also bought just for the stock and also just for a 3,mil Inland
Seems I never find a 3,mil inland that hasn't been messed with.

Are we seeing a broken R in U.S. CARBINE ?

Dave T, Thx for sharing this, much appreciated.

Looks like a broken R to me and no there isn’t a bomb stamped on the handguard.
The carbine didn’t come with a sling or oiler but I have a marked sling or two to pick from. Thanks for your comments! Dave

I am reminded of the broken "O" on NPM receivers. Unfortunately, now that the CMP Completed Auctions web site no longer exists, we can't go back and look at examples.

If this Inland goes into the Spread Sheets, I will add a note pointing out the broken "R"

Anyone have any idea if these transferred Trimble stocks have been reported/found in any of the other Inland serial # blocks?

I have it noted that I have in storage:

#2: Type II RSG (Up side down) over a side ways Serif I With Green/Purple Julian Dating
#2: Type II RMC over leaning/vertical  san serif I
#1: Type II TRIMBLE TN over T.I  san serif

Also see I do have a HQ listed, but don't have the type noted, have these and others that are still in long term storage. Some are in my bunker. Maybe get some unboxed this winter.
