M1 Carbine Potbelly Stock with a strange but beautiful repair. The person who made this repair understood his craft. Too bad a different type of wood was used. Stock is stamped what I can make out of it Standard Products? What do you think

Yes, looks to be a Standard Products rebuild marking in front of the sling well. Not sure that is a "Pot Belly" though. Would like to see some pictures of the bridge area.
Agree, pretty good wood working skills.

That covers a area that can not be patched without weakening the stock according to TM9_1276_1947
Page 91. Is it a long barrel channel? Ch-P777

Yes it is a long barrel channel.Made some pictures, On the left a high wood Tn Trimble stock for national postal meter and on the the Right the Potbelly stock for STD products. You can clearly see the difference.

Remember this patched stock that I bought from carbinekid after he cleaned it up? Probably a replacement that was never put to use. It too has an unapproved patch location but no way to prove it was done at the factory (or not).

Matt,
That one makes one wonder if they had guys training on patching / repairing stocks. It's not your usual Dutchman, but sure appears solid. Superdort's repair has so much contact it also looks really solid. Maybe only drawback would be the right side of the handguard would have excess overhang. Ch-P777

The excessive overhang is not too bad, A collector would notice it.

It sure looks better than I expected.
I've found that some unmarked 4 rivet hand guards that are likely post war are wider. Where as the 2 rivet early RSG hand guards seem to be the narrowest I've come across. Ch-P777

This 2 rivet IO hand guard came with the stock. Barrelband is stamped Q and is a poorly bad cut down bayonet lug. I bought the stock for 55 Euro incl shipping. Think not a bad deal
