New M1 Carbine Stocks from Dupage Trading Co. in AZ. Anyone here tried them? Were you happy with
the fit and finish? Walnut, made in the USA with hand guard. No metal. Under $200 shipped. I noticed they are back in stock, so I ordered one. I have no affiliation with them, I'm looking for an alternative to old, high priced, originals. Thanks for any input or insights.

If my memory serves me right, the CMP had ordered some stocks which I think were made by Boyds. They had fitment issues.
CMP had Dupage work the stocks for better fitment.
I do not know if this is still their supplier.

I picked one up from a CMP member and I am unsure who made it, but believe it was a Boyds CMP.
I never checked fitment.
It had fallen off the rack and cracked.  I have had USGI do the same without issue, however plenty of USGI stocks out there have also cracked.

Also consider the Dupage you still need to buy all the metal.

IMHO you can pick up a pottbelly or sanded USGI stock out there for less.

Yeah, Dan's got a good memory....CMP sold nice GI Garand stocks for a few years until they ran out. They then needed spare stocks to replace damaged stocks on Garands that they were getting from the Army.

CMP contracted with Boyds for commercial stocks, but they needed "minor fitting," and CMP advertised them as such. Crazy! Why Boyds couldn't duplicate a GI stock still baffles me.

Jim Yokum, a military surplus dealer in Dupage County, IL submitted a bid to Orest Michaels at CMP, to rework the Boyds stocks. Jim had since moved to AZ. He did good work and the Boyd stocks fit well.

I haven't kept up with this stuff for many years now and I dunno what Dupage is up to these days. I've heard thru the grapevine that he is making good quality carbine stocks. Regardless, I'd have complete confidence in buying a Garand or Carbine stock from Dupage.

Regards, mb

For $200 you could get a nice USGI stock here.

Thank you gentlemen for your comments and thoughts. My understanding is Dupage Trading Co. did rework Boyds M1 rifle stocks closer to WWII dimensions which fit hands better. Then they made their own. The Carbine that needs a stock is a Blue Sky Underwood mish mash. Inland barrel, Inland trigger housing with mixed components, Inland recoil plate (DI). Type 3 band (MMQ). Non marked M2 potbelly that fits extra sloppy. Maybe Korean made. The correct stock on ebay is 80 years old, looks so-so, and priced $350 and up plus shipping. I have the metal I need. I'm not looking to make a "correct" carbine. Just a shooter that's "been there, done that." I've checked out Choate polymer stocks but I like wood.

I placed my order Friday. It shipped today. Fingers crossed... Thanks again!

If you already had the metal, and just want "nice" vs original, what you bought will likely be much better looking than an original stock.

I got my Inland fully bubba'd with the front sight ears cut off, a cheap scope mounted in the rear sight dovetail, and a sporterized Fajen stock.

I got an original Inland stock with a hairline crack below the slide handle from him for $59.  Glued the crack and ended up with a nice looking original stock.

That was before carbine prices went full on nuts, so even at Whatacountry prices are a lot higher now than they were 5-6 years ago.

I picked up a nice shooter carbine stock with all the metal, repro type2 barrel band, and hand guard last month at a gun show for $50.  Look around.  You don't have to pay a lot for a decent shooter stock.

Snippity4 I see you're from Minnesota!  I grew up in North Minneapolis and Brooklyn Center. I moved to CA in 1974 while Reagan was Governor. Freedoms people enjoy now in many states are mightily discouraged here in San Diego. No gun shows locally any more. Yeah and prices here on TOOLS are ridiculous, sales tax and punitive 11% tax on top. I remember the days you are talking about.  I'm a member of GOC, GOA, 2nd Amendment Foundation, NRA Life Member so I'm in the fight and hopeful with
DJT back.

Howdy Steve.  Lots of gun shows here and Wisconsin.  Sometimes can go to three in a weekend as a lot of them are now open on Friday afternoons as well as the weekend. Minnesota still is pretty decent as far as firearms go.  My father lives in New York and they are under the thumb of their nutty governor.  Kalifornia is a tough place for 2nd amendment supporters.
