I’ve purchased what I believe to be an unused 2/44 Inland Division barrel. Muzzle gages less than .3005, I can see sharp lands from the breech, staked WI marked gas piston, proof and ordinance bomb markings. Machined front sight marked N. Finish is greenish black. The front sight appears to have never been removed. The barrel has a 3 spot weld 1A barrel band marked UI that is the same finish. The slot in the sling loop measures about 0.31”. Barrel threads have no wear, nor does the barrel except for a couple random scratches. Source was an estate. Here is my question, did Inland package replacement barrels in this way during this period? There is still some cosmoline on the parts although most seems removed. Thanks for any feedback.

Spare barrels were packaged that way. Be cautious if you use it in a build because if it is a spare barrel it will be short chambered and need to be finished reamed
