I have this IBM JL-B Highwood stock with A SAA Rebuilt stamp.
Thought these were changed to low wood when rebuilt? Perhaps missed at rebuilt? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yes, every now and then you see a stock with a rebuild stamp that is still in high wood configuration but is seems a bit more prevalent with San Antonio Arsenal stamped stocks, maybe an early rebuild, an oversight, they didn't get the memo or late on a Friday afternoon.

I have an IBM highwood stock with RIA / EB rebuild stamp. It was left in highwood configuration, so I guess that leaving a few in highwood configuration also happened at Rock Island Armory as well.

I have a Winchester i-cut AAG and an Inland type 2 AOS. Lightly sanded with intact CC and have type 1 band marks only. It appears as if only the rear sight was upgraded to an adjustable during the rebuild process.

I think I'm going to sell this one. At what price are these going away today?

Was there a memo? My understanding is cutting down was allowed if there was damage. If there was no damage there was no reason or incentive to cut down. I don't see anything in the 1947 TM9-1276 about cutting down the highwood during overhaul. |

Yep, page 130 & 131, TM 9-1276 Feb 1953 Like I said Matt, "maybe an early rebuild"
