I had a great conversation with Larry Ruth yesterday and again today and he's going to ship me a copy of his War Baby Vol 1, but until it arrives...you all are my living Sources of Carbine Knowledge :-)

Is there information out there on when the Stock Manufacturers shifted from making I Cut Stocks to the Oval Cut in buttstocks? I've read that the High Wood to Low Wood modification was instituted in early 1944 but I cant find anything on when the I cut change was instituted to the Oval cut. Was it Late 1942, Early 1943 ?  I imagine that there's Records that show when Army Ordnance directed the change to be made.

I've also been told that Rock-Ola continued to use I cut stocks though for some time after the other Stock suppliers had already shifted over to Oval cut stocks. Any idea why? Possible because Rock-Ola had excess I cut inventory on hand and they just kept using it until they ran out and had to start making the Oval cut types?

Thanks!!!
