Group of late Winchester carbines. Good examples of what the finishes and colors should look like.

Wow! I've never seen a 7 mil Winchester before, not even for sale anywhere. Neato

Have never seen a real 7 mil either. All of them are sweet but that tiger striped one is sugar.

Wow, look at the gray paint on the windage knobs and at the base of the sight aperture on the one carbine. I also like the contrast in color between the blued bolt and the gray Winchester park. I love late Winchester carbines, heck I must I have three of them.

If you look close, both carbines with the stamped adjustable rear sight have paint on them.

Have seen many supposed late Winch's and not one looked like any of those.

For new collector's this is the time to save pictures and use for future comparison purposes.

At least three. I own two, then one was a COM (NL348). The other two I'm not sure about. Photo was taken a few years ago.

Why do you think that?

Reisch and Ruth only list the C band.
But not the first time someome has mentioned it may be dated information.

Yes, they are dated. A better source would be the Carbine Club Newsletters. Carbine Club Newsletter 355 has a big article on Winchester 6 & 7 million serial number range production.

There have been several reports of original appearing, late Winchester carbines having other than the Cowles, type-3 barrel band.

Two of the carbines in the photo are "Box of Ten" guns owned at one point by Peter Cardone. Do you have one of those?

No I do not.  I did talk to him when they were for sale back in the 90's but his pricing was way out of my league at that time.  Martin

Two of the carbines have what appears to be butt plate overhang. Is that serial number specific? In the pics they are carbine 2 and 4. Both have type 3 sights. Both appear to have the same type of paint on the opposite side of the adjustment knob as carbines 1 and 5.

Not sure exactly what you mean by that. If you mean that the stock is wider than the butt plate, then yes, I think they all have that overhang.

Don't know.

As far as the gray paint on Winchester carbines, you should read Carbine Club Newsletter 355.

Found an example in the COM of 355.  Thanks.
