This set of War Baby! Vol. I & II – Larry L. Ruth – Limited First Editions, both signed – Copy No. 95/400 is for sale here. Can anyone verify if this is correct? These books are not very well known here in the Netherlands. How much do you think they could be sold for?

I can confirm that there were a limited number of first editions that Larry had and would sign.
What is interesting is the dates!

The name also sounds familiar. Either he is credited in WB or I have seen it while sorting Larry's notes. Possible he was a club member?

When both Larry and the publisher passed the books skyrocketed in price due to supply and demand.
I do not know what the current value is, but I have seen some ridiculous asking prices that do not sell
No idea the value overseas.

The family still holds the copyright and we have had some discussions on finding a new publisher.

Adrian C. Hendriks was a regular contributor of data to the Carbine Club during the 1990s, during Mike Stratton's long tenure as Editor/Publisher.   I remember Mr. Hendriks was credited with several articles, including "Spotters Reports" and "Carbines of the Month." His 1993 address was PO Box 648, NL-6130 AP Sittard, The Netherlands. His 2008 address was Aan Schniewind 17, Selfkant-Hoengen, D-52538, Germany.

Mike Stratton visited the Netherlands a few times in the late 1980s and the 1990s, since his wife had relatives there. I seem to remember that Mike and Adrian met during one or more of his visits, and perhaps Mike brought the War Baby books to him in 1992 and 1993. Mike and Larry Ruth corresponded regularly in regards to the Carbine Club. Unfortunately, Mike died in an accident in 2003 and Adrian's name dropped from our membership roster at some point prior to 2015.

Re: the dates on the books for sale in The Netherlands, my signed copy of "War Baby!" is number 13 of 400 and is dated 5-29-92, a day earlier. My copy of "War Baby Comes Home" is also number 13 of 400 and is dated 2-4-93.

Superdort: As for the copy in The Netherlands dated 2-20-92 (before the book was published!), many people don't know that Larry suffered from dyslexia, and often got his numbers and letters wrong. His spelling was subsequently very poor. I attribute the 1992 date to a simple mistake on Larry's part. That IS his signature, not a fake.

Both books are "must have" for a serious carbine collector. If you can only afford one, get "War Baby!"

I have since contacted the seller, but he is unwilling to disclose his asking price. You are encouraged to make an offer and will be notified if it is sufficient.
So now it's a matter of waiting to see if he accepts my offer.

Ahh, that's too bad. The seller doesn't know the value of Larry's books in The Netherlands, so he is "fishing" for the highest bidder.   We hope you get the books, but if not, I'm sure you can locate them somewhere else.   Good luck!

Exactly, he probably looked at the retail prices in the US. You'll never get that price here because the books aren't as well known or in demand here. I think I'm the only bidder so far. We'll have to wait and see.
