Inland 18743 for review

New member here with a new to me early Inland carbine SN 18743 with 9-42 barrel date. I recently bought this at a local gunshow on somewhat of an impulse. It looked pretty good from an external examination, and I was able to get it for a reasonable price not too much greater than a decent mixmaster. After closer examination and completing a data sheet, it appears to be substantially correct with all early Inland parts, although I suspect some degree of restoration has occurred. For certain the front sight has been off because it was very loose, which makes me suspect at least the barrel band has been replaced. I think the bolt has possibly been polished and reblued and it has a 26-coil hammer spring, but everything else look pretty good and appears to have been together for awhile.

It definitely looks like a gun show acquisition but probably on the upper end of what they can look like. The bottom line is as long as you're happy with it is all that matters though.

The more I research and closer I look at it, the more obvious it becomes that it is a restoration, but I think it is a pretty good one. I assumed as much when I bought it, and I couldn't buy a mixmaster and restore it myself for anywhere near what I paid, so I'm happy with it. It fits nicely into my collection as a correct WW2 configuration carbine.

Nice looking Carbine.  Would it be possible to see a good closeup of the staking marks on the dove tail at the rear sight?
