I’m trying to ascertain if a very late ‘44 early ‘45 6.3m would have had PI or HI T2 rear sight. From what I have available to read the switch from PI to HI was made in late ‘44. Can anyone shed some light on this? TIA.

There are two dozen carbines in your serial number range that are listed in the Serial Number Spread Sheet for Inland.
http://uscarbinecal30.com/forum/CCNLs/Mfg%20Dates%20Inland.pdf Most are M1A1's found in the CMP Completed Auction web site which you can access here: https://cmpauction.thecmp.org/catalog.asp?catid=363&n=M1-Carbine&view=&show=closed Others are either Carbines of the Month (COM) or Featured Carbines in the Club forum. Most of these sources contain details about the rear sights found on these carbines. Perhaps a look at these will help answer your question. |
