Hello, New member here. Glad to be part of this group. I have a M1 Carbine that looks to be made in the late 60’s. It belonged to my grandfather. On the research I’ve done it looks to be have been made in Florida. I purchased a M4 Bayonet on eBay. It lacks about 1/4” to lock on the lug. Has anyone else seen this?

The Universal Carbine front sights are not positioned to accept a bayonet. If it has a set-screw holding the front sight in place you might be able to move it. I tried once on a friends Universal and never could get it to move….maybe glued too with Loctite?
The few Universals I have handled would not accept a bayonet.
