I recently purchased an M1 Carbine. If the previous owner submitted a Data Sheet and I in turn submit one, will the club know there are two different copies from two different individuals? Will they be combined together in the records? If they are not exactly the same will differences be noted? Finally, can I submit an image of my receiver with serial number to see if you already have a Data Sheet on my M1 Carbine? Thank you.

If there is a duplicate submission it would still go in the records unless maybe it was an exact copy. If you send in a datasheet put a note asking if it is already on file and we can compare and let you know it they are consistent. |

Are Data Sheets entered into a computer database which can be searched?

Data sheets are considered personal information of the owner and not made openly available. The information is used for the club benefit for when we publish manufacturers updates as well as looking for certain parts markings such as receiver markings or lot numbers. @3aka3mo, yes you should get a response that the DS was received and put into the clubs records. Sometimes there are followup questions or comments. I just checked the server and see they are there, but think there is an email issue. I will look into it. |

So, how does sending you a data sheet of my gun benefit me? I want to know if my gun is original or unique or valuable. Does sending you the data sheet initiate a response regarding any of these? Or, do I need to create posts in the forum asking these kinds of questions using images of the gun? Actually, is there a source on the web, or in public, that could tell me whether my gun is original, unique, or valuable. Thank you.

Data sheet helps the collector as while filling out it may get you to notice something on your carbine that you have overlooked. It helps you become familiar with every part of the carbine. It is also a excellent reference for your records. This way you do not have to open your carbine(s) every time you want to know what parts or markings are inside. Data sheets are the basis of this club which has been collecting data on the carbine since 1976. the datasheets are vetted and original appearing carbines are used to publish that information. This information has also been used by most authors of books on the subject, most notably Larry Ruth. Has any of this information benefited you? What about the next generation of collectors?
Yep, you are here. Did you check our main pages? (click the banner picture to get there) This forum is an excellent way to get feedback on your carbine. |
