Good evening all, Would the "press markings" on this type one barrel band indicate a bad day at the facility or a reproduction? Thanks for everyone's opinion in advance |

I see just very fine on a couple early WRA Bands only on the screw side, similar to what's on top of your Round Faced Shoulder in 3rd pic.
Best Guess- I think what you have is where someone has used needle nose pliers to square off the ledges, maybe looking for a tighter band to stock nose fit or tighter fit to HG and Band Spring. Can any similar markings be seen inside under either ledge? Ch-P777

Painter, Nothing on the back sides at all. Interesting that there are two faint weld marks that look OK, but I've never seen this type of marks on a band. So I'll just say undetermined for now. Never say never. I found this in a junk pile at a gun show about 15 years ago and the guy that had it said he didn't know, and I gave him one $ for it. Thanks for your thoughts and time. Tom |

Maybe they tapped it from the top while it was on a stock trying to square it up. Zoomed up it appears both sides were knocked downward right in the crease. They can be tough to get a good bite with especially on a worn down stock nose and well worn hand guard nose.
I'm a magnet to the gunshow junk boxes. Especially the: 'Any item $1:00'. Have found loose Flip sight bases, leafs, ejectors, extractors, plungers, bolt tool pawls, and other smalls for cheap. Sellers shake their heads and look at me like I'm going thru their garbage cans. Admit I come out of them filthy. Walking away you'll hear them mumble- 'Carbine Guys' Ch-P777

Same here I just said OK and was walking off and he said "wait" what will you give me for it? I just said a dollar, kinda joking and he said OK it's yours. Man I've got some treasure now..... if you figure 15 years of inflation it's now worth $1.44.

Painter, two years ago I came up with a complete bolt tool out of one of those boxes. The pawl wasn't even damaged! You aren't the only guy who goes "dumpster diving"!
