Yesterday wasn't a bad day at this local show, even though I didn't find what I was looking for. I guess giving good deals to certain sellers does pay off in the long run. I found an unmarked type 2 hammer that appears to be the real thing. It doesn't have any of the typical characteristics of repros/fakes. I needed a T2 hammer for my S'G' so I decided to buy it and use it at least temporarily in my S'G' restoration. A few shows ago, I sold several carbine stocks at a discount price to one of the dealers. This is the one who had the T2 hammer tucked away for me. He made a goodly amount on the stocks so he was very happy with the deal. He also had a type 2 sling put aside for me. The steel parts have a bit of rust, but nothing I can't clean up. He asked $50 for the hammer and gave me the sling for free. When I said I thought I owed him much more than $50, he refused and said he would be very happy to continue doing business with me in the future. The other item that I picked up was a somewhat rough Milsco M6 scabbard. I made him an offer, but he didn't accept since there was a mauser bayonet in it and he wanted to sell them as a set. His wife was sitting next to him.....I moved down about 3 booths and was talking to a coin dealer. That guy came over and tapped me on the shoulder and said he decided he would accept my offer; $100. I gave him the money and strolled happily out of the show. Somehow, I suspect his wife may have had something to do with his change of mind. *LOL*

Well, it certainly seems like you had a productive day at that show. Thanks for sharing your interesting story.
When I think of Medina, Ohio I recall the beautiful, quaint downtown with the nice shops and restaurants. Such a cool town. I grew up in the nearby Massillon/Canton area but left in the 1970s.

The show is held at the Fair grounds. Yes, Medina is a beautiful town. They have done a lot of historic restoration in the down town. If anyone is close enough to visit, it is a worth while trip. And no, I don't live there.

Here is a picture of the Milsco M6 scabbard and the sling from the show. You can see where someone removed the reinforcing staples at the mouth of the scabbard to put a larger blade mauser bayonet in the scabbard. Other than that, it is basically intact. It ain't pretty, but it does fill a gap. There are no markings at all on the lift the dot fastener top or bottom.

Once upon a time, A Long time ago a corn farmer got me using different types of tape to pull rust particles from weave.
Tape over it, crunch on it, pull tape, repeat with fresh tape. If it doesn't work go watch corn grow. Ch-P777

I'll give it a try. At this point I was only interested in cleaning up the metal.
