Anyone ever seen or heard of such a carbine.....a Chinese post-WWII knock-off.  I don't have the time to post pics anytime soon.  Here is the link:

I have WBI and WBIII...guess I’m gonna have to spring for WBII eventually.  I would imagine they are pretty scarce in the US.  I’d be afraid to shoot it.

These were reported to the club in the mid to late 80s and we refer to them as "Copycat" carbines
Evidently they obtained carbines and copied them as well as using USGI parts.

The metallurgy is unknown and not something that should be fired.

Some receivers are crudely marked and the markings are somewhat laughable.

I didn't catch this post.
And was just getting ready to stick the pictures in a file so I could pass them along so 'The Sleep Less One' could see them, before they disappeared.
See it sold for $1800.

I thought the Receiver markings and SN# were interesting along with the stock.
Also wondering if that was a GI Flip installed backward.
Or a China made one with no Concave/Dished side peep hole.

I sure hope the buyer doesn't attempt to fire it, looks like it's already had an out of battery detonation before. I remember Hackathorn talking about these on an episode of forgotten weapons I believe it was. It would be neat to have one to look at and compare to, but I certainly wouldn't use it

I've actually seen one before at an OGCA show. Quality left a lot to be desired. These were made during a period of Chinese history called the War Lord Wars. This occurred shortly after the end of WWII before Mao consolidated his hold over China. Almost any firearm that had been used to fight the Japanese was cloned. That is when the WAUSER handguns were made and many other semi-auto firearms were copied. That is an interesting period of gun history and some folks actually specialize in collecting those Chinese copies.

Yes, would be a cool history and comparison piece in a collection for say, $500-$600.....but $1800, I’m spending that on the genuine article that can actually be shot.  Bent receiver side-rails, agree on the likely out of battery detonation.  Like Dan said, who knows what kind of pot-metal it could be made out of.  Still, I was unaware of the post-war Chinese copies, so pretty cool to learn of.  Thanks for posting the pictures Charlie.

I suppose I’m just looking at it from a carbine collector perspective. If there are folks who collect the post-WWII Chines clone firearms of all varieties, maybe that market supports a whole different market desirability.  Amazing the niche collector markets that do exist.

I agree, previously I had only heard mention of these here and there and here you get to see them. This forum rocks! The best place by far to learn anything and everything about the carbines

Diggin’up a bit this thread…
L.Ruth is talking about another copycat with laughable marking « IBLAND » in WB.
Do we have any picture in the CCNLs? I don’t have them, and I can’t find any picture on internet. Just to visualize a bit the markings, as the 12.1949 in the link above does not have any of these .

Basically the letters may not be in line, letters reversed, wrong letters etc
Some the wording is at an angle.

very neat! I have never heard of such a thing. I believe I knew about the Japanese I think it was that had the flower symbol on it but I've never seen these before. Wow, you can tell they did not grasp the English language very good haha.  maybe I should try finding one of these to go with my reproduction 1950s Chinese surplus magazine pouch haha

I found it curious that on #36 they used a early barrel band and earlier seen the link above was still good noticed the op slide shelf was numbered 36. Basically trying to copy a early carbine.
Back in 21 the when you guys made the deal... Some info was shared with me about #240 in confidence.
Am looking forward to see the numbered parts to receiver on #240.
No rush, know you have a full plate.
