I thought I'd share this here, as I don't recall seeing it in any books. If I'm mistaken, and it is in a book, please let me know.
I have a collection of various score books used by our military, and there's a WWII Marine Corps version for the M1 Garand and M1 Carbine that is a neat accessory for anyone interested in either rifle. This particular one was used by a Marine with a Garand, and there are no entries in the Carbine section. I've had several of these over the years, and some have had rifle serial numbers written in them, and the names of those who used them. That can be sobering, at times, as I've had several manuals (of different types) named to soldiers who were KIA. In the Carbine section, there are 2 pages of instructions for each different sight. One set refers to the flip sight, and the other refers to adjustable rear sights, assemblies D73955 or D7160060. This particular book is dated 12-1-44, and had 50,000 units printed. ![]() If you like this post, please hit the "Thanks" button in the upper right hand corner. I have more stuff like this that I could share. David Albert dalbert@sturmgewehr.com |

I just acquired another of the score books, this time with a notation that it was used with an M1 Carbine in May, 1948. The serial number range indicates an IP Carbine, so this makes it a very interesting item.
The notation indicates it was used with "Carbine No. 1817315." It might end in "75," but I think it's "15." Maybe we can get some conversation going on this... David Albert dalbert@sturmgewehr.com |
