2025-D

Once again Christmas has come and gone. What young carbine enthusiast would not want an authentically made to look like the U.S. Army M1 Carbine under their tree?
Just imagine the look of awe in your friends eyes when you report to duty at the woods by end of the block to commence reenacting last nights episode of "Combat" with the...

The Kadet Karbine
by Parris Mfg.

Like other Parris-Dunn and later Parris Mfg. Trainers the "bolt really works... pull it back and spring action "loads" chamber....you are ready to fire!

Though the toy is a bolt action it is clear they were mimicking the M1 Carbine with the shape of the stock, and it is the only Parris Trainer I have found that has a magazine.
It had been opined if Parris made a M1 carbine as there was attribution to another toy carbine that had a wooden magazine.
A future article will be addressing the maker of those toy carbines at a later date.

Since that article I had been on the search for anything else that Parris made that could be a M1 carbine. In that time I found only one advertisement with the Kadet Karbine that was not dated, and one Kadet brochure that lists two Kadet Karbines, the KK-24 at 32 inches long and the KK-25 at 29 1/2 inches long.
Trainer Rifles all had a K prefix.
My best guess is they were made for a short period sometime after 1963 and before 1972

Please share your thoughts and pictures if you have one of these.

And what Karbine would be complete without a Kadet Trainer Bayonet?

I had cheap plastic Nerf guns when I was little. A bayonet on a nerf gun would have made our battles more interesting for sure! I couldn’t imagine how my neighbors would have reacted carrying one of those karbines around LOL

I have one of these trainer bayonets. I'll post a pic when I'm home.

Here are some pics of my Kadet Trainer Rifle bayonet.

I will say that the Kadet Trainer Rifle bayonet was probably not intended for the toy carbine. It has a small slot on the back of it to attach to the rifle, and the toy carbine does not have the corresponding attachment point.

Enjoy!

Dave, You are correct.
the bayos were available for a time period when the Kadet Trainer would have a spring for the hole at the back of the bayonet in addition to the set back front sight. I think later the trainer has the plastic sight that you could not slide the bayonet on, like the Karbine.

As to the bayonet, it also came with a scabbard. It looks as if some form of mounting is missing at the end where the bayo slides in. I have not seen another one or any advertisements.

Dan,

OMG, I didn't know about the scabbard. Now my collection feels incomplete.

Missed you at SOS this last weekend. Met up with Dave, though. It was a fun show. Lotsa Carbines. No Thompsons of note. I enjoyed my Thursday afternoon there in Louisville. Bought one Carbine item, which I'll post later.

Does it say "Mounting Knife" on the scabbard, or is that my imagination?

Thanks for the info!

I believe it is Hunting Knife

Someone needs to do a good Parris page as last time I checked I had more info than could be found on the Parris page

Replicas by Parris makes a another version of what may be a Karbine, but has what looks like the Thompson compensator in plastic, plastic receiver, plastic magazine which looks like a stubby 30r
Some in camo.

The death of many "representative' toy guns was the Vietnam war where mothers had voiced opposition to these toys.
