I want to introduce myself as Clay and let all know I appreciate this forum, I have managed to learn much in the last two weeks. I recently inherited a carbine that I feel is special and I have some questions. The rifle is a NPM serial number 1,450,1xx.
While not as clean as the featured NPM in the featured article it is earlier and a little different. I believe it was a bring back and I am working on completing the data sheet. It does have a type 1 trigger guard pin with the spring in place and appears to never been disassembled. Should I remove this pin to get details for the data sheet? Thank you for your thoughts, photos and data sheet should be completed/ added over the next couple of weeks. |

You must remove it to remove and disassemble the Trigger Housing to discover what’s inside. Same thing with the bolt. You can carefully accomplish all this without damage. Never being dissembled is not something that would add or detract much to the value of a correct collector…..but give them time😁.
You must disassemble the carbine to determine if it’s correct or not, otherwise you’re just guessing. If one was able to prove a carbine was all original yet never disassembled…..would really be something. |

Forum members I want to apologize for documenting the incorrect serial number above. It is actually 1,460,1xx when I took the original photo it was from the left and looked like a 5 but when just taking the photo it is a 6. I should have used a magnifying glass the first time, but this explains why the stock is an oval cut and not an I cut.
I am working to figure out how to add photos. I am not getting a browse or upload button. |
