I saw that the number of members in this forum was under 80, so I made a couple of introductory posts with links from two of our websites. I see that the member number is now approaching 200. I'm not sure if you're able to tell where they were directed from, but I'm hoping that my posts helped, and will continue to help boost membership here.

I disagree. You'd be surprised at the results, depending upon how it's posted to FB. New blood is always good for a site like this, and for the hobby in general. True trolls can be easily dealt with. I would suggest posting on FB in the various related interest groups. David Albert dalbert@sturmgewehr.com |

Better to put the word out and deal with any trolls - if it happens, they get aced :)

I agree completely... You never know what can be learned, uncovered, or stumbled upon by putting out a feeler like can be done on FB, or other forums. For instance, every time we at The American Thompson Association do a display at the NRA Convention, some new information, or an item surfaces that we would not have known or seen had we not been there. The same can happen by posting in firearm related discussion groups on FB. You never know what might turn up because a mention of The Carbine Club is made in a place where people might not be aware of the club, etc. David Albert dalbert@sturmgewehr.com |

Alan,
Good to see that you joined. For those of you who don't know Alan, he is a small arms researcher in Australia, and we have shared a lot of Thompson information over the years, as well as about some other firearms. He has done some very good research, and brings a great perspective of Commonwealth use of U.S. small arms. David Albert dalbert@sturmgewehr.com |
