Dave, thanks but your WRA serial number does not fall into the range of unreported WRA serial numbers mentioned on page 1 of this thread.

While downloading and sorting carbine serial numbers for the "Serial Number Spread Sheets" I discovered two carbines that had serial numbers in the "Contract Terminated" range.

Standard Products S/N 2261131 appears in the 1958 Armory Theft thread here:

    http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/forum/1958-armory-theft-carbines_topic7241.html#61481

Underwood S/N 2613260 appears in the Chicken Coop Carbines article in CCNL 322, page 4

Hello,

I just joined the other day because I think I have something that might interest the forum. I have a Quality H.M.C that I believe falls outside of the known range. I'm going to try and attach a few photos if I can. I know the photos are not that great but it's the best I can do at the moment.

It seems I can only upload one photo at a time?? I guess I can post more latter. This one is the most important.

One of the Assigned Serial Number Range for Quality 4,632,100 - 4,879,525. That M1 Carbine look to be in that range. (Correct?)

Alan68, thanks for posting, and yes it looks like you have one of the serial #'s (4853212) that the Carbine Collectors Club is requesting to be reported.

Congrats, you have the highest reported serial in that assigned block. It is likely one of the last delivered by QHMC.
Can you share the barrel information

New2brass,

Thank You. When I bought it, I would of never suspected something like that. The barrel is IBM. It has an Inland trigger housing with a H.I. or the other way around hammer. It's still full of cosmoline too I noticed.LOL

@ww2farmer, the NPM serial range we are looking for is (4313313-4325227) and (4389894-4425093) your NPM is a bit outside of these ranges. Still very interested in hearing more about your recently acquired Postal Meter.

@ww2farmer, although this serial number is outside of the serial range we are looking for, it would be higher than any serial number appearing in the Serial Number Spread Sheets. For this reason alone, I would be very interested in learning more about this carbine.

I don't know much about it myself.

Serial number: 4,427,465

Barrel date: Underwood 9-43 with NPM punch proof mark

Rear sight: early flip type marked s on left N-A on right,

Barrel band is early narrow UN with UN marked swivel, front sight still retains all original staking.

Stock is an IBM highwood , 2 rivet inland handguard

Slide, bolt,  and TH are all NPM.

I have been a collector for almost 30 years and can tell it's the original rear sight, barrel,  and band to the receiver.  The rest ....idk...I bought it because of how high the serial number was and the seemingly original to the receiver, yet out of place early parts on it. And it was a good price too.

there were less than 7000 serial numbers in that block.
CCNL 357-17 shows the highest reported in that block was 4,429,8xx
So that leaves a missing end of bloc of about 2250 carbines with no reporting. The interesting thing is if you look at the barrel dates, you will see that NPM assembled some out of numerical number. It would seems that this block was done right after the 1.9 million block See CCNL 125-1

WW2Farmer, if you could, fill out a Data Sheet and submit it if you can.

@ww2farmer, Thank you for the additional information. Other than the stock, the rest of the parts you noted are what I would have expected. Is the IBM stock marked in any way to suggest a reason for its use on this carbine? Any rebuild marks or additional letters stamped in the sling well? How is the recoil plate marked? How is the handguard marked? The highest serial number in the NPM Spread Sheet (4426---) is also COM 125 and it has an early Inland dogleg hammer and an Underwood trigger.

Harley08, thanks again for telling us about your 7 mil WRA and Inland. Neither of your carbines fall into the unreported serial # range that is published in the 1st post of this thread.

@Dan, I struggled to determine reasonable "Probable Made by Dates" on the NPM carbine Spread Sheet, after April 1944. There was little data such as barrel dates and publish history such as "Interchangeability Tests" and US&S receiver delivery dates to go by. Feel free to adjust these dates if you wish.
