I picked up an Underwood M1 Carbine, at a local auction.  I feel like I got a pretty good deal.  They also had 400 rounds of handloads that I picked up, for about a third the price of new ammo.  It shoots well.  Still need to get it zeroed a little better.  The rear sight kept slipping out of the 100 yard mark and I didn't notice.

Looks like you got a decent post WWII rebuild. If you can't fix the problem with the rear sight let us know. I'm sure I have a spare that you can have for free. Welcome to the forum. You have a lot to learn and this is the place to do it.

This is great site with lots of information. I'd already looked through bunch of post, before I joined. I had no idea Underwood made them, until I got this one. That's when I started looking here and found out about the rebuilds, too.

I wonder if that's a Circle K stock.
But seems they had a number stamped along with the Circle K.

welcome to the forum! Looks like you scored you a beautiful Underwood rebuilt carbine. I love my rebuild Winchester because rebuilds ooze service history. They are as the military intended them to be. Good score!

Not sure if this is the case but if you are pushing the rear sight peep all the way forward until it bottoms out that is not a correct setting, and the peep will move back up under recoil. The 100 yard setting is before the sight bottoms out.

Nice. I would be leery on the handloads unless you know and trust the loader, but that's me

I just moved it all the way to the rear and then pushed it forward once for each marking.  The last one, for 100, doesn't have as positive a click as the rest of them.

The ammo has worked well, so far.  Each box is marked with lot numbers and load details

Let's just hope the reloader didn't make a mistake. Odds are you'll be fine but you just never know. Most shooters or reloaders only shoot the ones they reload themselves, usually don't trust other unknown reloaders reloads. Almost a tongue twister haha

In the picture you posted the sight is pushed past the 100 yard marking and will move backwards when firing. The line should be even with the 1, stop pushing at the last forward "click".

Thanks.  I've always bought new ammo but these were cheap enough that I thought I'd give them a shot.Wink

Bought some new, as well.

I'm a reloader and I will tell you that that particular load is identical to my favorite. It is a bit on the mild side, but I wouldn't change it. It functions all of my carbines dependably and is quite accurate in my rifles. As long as the loader paid proper attention to his loading technique, You should be fine. There is no room in the case for a double charge because the load as properly assemble is a slightly compressed charge.
