I had an Israel Arms International, IAI, receiver laying around and was lucky enough to find a NOS Green Mountain Rifle barrel. These Green Mountain Rifle barrels were used by IAI to build their M-888 M1 Carbines.

Here is the write-up about IAI:

Anyhow, I built my own M-888 M1 Carbine, using the IAI receiver, the Green Mountain barrel along with USGI Inland parts. The barrel was short chambered, so I had to screw on the barrel and finish the chamber with a pull through reamer. Everything worked out and the rifle functions great. I installed the sights and filed off the front sight post until I hit point-of-aim at 100 yards. The stock had a crack, so I did a brass pin repair. This was a fun project since I learned a lot about the M1 Carbine. This is a shooter/blaster carbine that I don’t have to worry about tossing in the truck and going to the range.

The Green Mountain barrel gas piston housing was cast; the injection hole is located on the right side of the gas piston housing.

There are no rebuild marks on this Inland but, there are some Asian characters scratched into the stock. Got to love these old stocks. It would be fun to know the full history of it.
