Found at a show.  Was able to take it apart.  Nice Augusta Arsenal rework with an IBM AO receiver. Nice but didn't think it was worth the ask.  One other person has seen this and is the reason I saw it.

Nice...Compared to the ones I've seen People asking for there's..It Really Looks Sweet! I know there worth a lot...It is on My Bucket List to get one of these one day. I would like to hold it and look at it first before I spend that much money on it. It would be a good investment.

3.5k was the ask. Not sure if he still has it or if the ask has been lowered. Some wiggle room but not nearly enough for an arsenal, IMHO. Seems to be a lot of that going around at shows lately. Saw two more this weekend, but no negotiations allowed. 4K+ for a first, 4K for a second prod. Great price but both are put togethers. They have been at the last 4 shows.

So, The one's you see for Sale for Higher than 5k are mostly Correct. I did see one listed for 6,900 not so long ago, then didn't find out if it sold or was taken off that site either for it being Sold or Not getting any bites. I wish I knew, now. Thanks for Replying and sharing some info about these M1A1's.

Oh No ! Was it correct and What should of it brought if you sold it Today ? I been looking at these by reading back Post's and seeing what a correct one should have and where to look. I want one, but don't want to get burned. I have read a Post where some guy had bought one and showed it to just to find out there was Wrong Stamping and other clues. I bet that guy must of have wish he knew more. He did pay a nice chunk of change for it. Thank You for Sharing.

Very hard to find one that doesn't have something wrong with it especially the folding mechanism. Watching people manhandle them at auctions is quite the stomach turner. Always wondered the point of cycling the action 15 times. Lest we forget the wire stock only folds one way.

Arsenal's seem to show up more often than true 1st or 2nd prods. The one pictured has been to the Augusta Arsenal (note the marking on the stock). Not as valuable as a true 1st or 2nd prod but (relatively) easier to find.

CMP has para's sometimes. They are Greek returns I think, possible replacement parts? Usually pay a premium but not always.

Lots to learn about M1A1's. Jumped in a little to early and got lucky but learned a valuable lesson.

It seems there quite a bit to know. I know the basics of the Pro. Blocks Assigned to them, what Markings and where to see them, other bits here and there, but that's barely a drop in the Bucket of what one Needs to know if your New to them and wanting to buy one. There so cool looking and to have one in your collection would be Nice and I don't ever see these Dropping in Price so, it's worth to have one as a Investment. Thanks for Sharing

I ended up getting a real stock for free a while back. Scared the crap out of me. I watched my rear view all the way home, thinking that I should've taken my license plate off the car when I met the guy. Had to be too good to be true. They're gonna follow me home and steal it back.

Saw an online ad selling an import marked rifle (600) and commercial one (500). Asked what else he had and a bulk price if I bought both rifles and everything else. He came back with $1400 and listed a ton of parts (hammers, triggers, front and rear sights, a flip sight and M1A1 stock. He said it had an aftermarket hand guard though. So he knew enough to know it was an aftermarket hand guard, which insinuates he knew the stock was real?! Confused Didn't even want to look at it when I met him because I have no poker face. Loading up he said, Hey, you didn't even look at this stock. Then the paranoia set in.

I've always believed that M1A1's are usually the most played with of all the carbine variants out there. Almost every time I see one it's either non-Inland, wrong serial range, or faked parted all to heck. Personally, I probably will never have one because of the reasons I just listed. It also seems to be easier to spot one that's been played with too, although that's more just my opinion probably. Nice ones are very rare, but lesser ones can be found pretty easily. It all depends how much one is willing to pay for one.

I'm missing something here.. The Free M1A1 Stock you got was from the same person you you got all the other Items from, like it was going to be a set up ? Don't you have your CHL and Pistol you carry ? I've met a couple of people in parking lots and have heard Stories of this happening. Even if you don't carry a Handgun. It's legal to Carry a Rifle in your Truck or Car isn't it ? I know it legal here and have heard that all states allow it. We'll the good thing is nothing happened.

I seen some that claimed to be all original for 7000+ on GB with bunch of Pics. Some of those M1A1 like that one I just mentioned can be fake also ?

Yup, see that at shows a lot. Some nicer than others, but they all have one thing in common. Overpriced and/or suspect, but still fun to look at and learn. Would be so much more informative if one could take it apart.

The stock is what makes it an M1A1 and sometimes they are free. Bonus! Theoretically, an M1A1 could have had it's B/A changed at the arsenal and remained the same since then. Not a "correct" Inland M1A1, but still worthy none-the-less. Try to appreciate them all. The differences between an M1A1 stock and a regular carbine stock, that's the good stuff.   Just my opinion. Correct barreled actions can be a had but even they tell tales.

To me its Pointless, If I had one and let's say I'm selling it for 7500. I would open it and show what there getting. If I denied someone to not look at it inside and out how do I expect to get the 7500 or whatever Im selling it for. Thats my Fault then.

Yes, the free one was in the bulk sale. I was convinced it had to be an aftermarket for the price he was selling the stuff for. Once I saw the numbers on the butt plate I started to worry what is wrong with this picture. Where's the guy hiding who's gonna follow me home and steal it back. I took the long way home. Nicest condition one I've owned in original condition. He said it all came from a guy who died. It's a 2nd block stock with wheel on the side, low wood and RI3 marked. Butt plate and metal is excellent.

The only other one I bought locally was $1500 at a show last spring. It walked in the side door of a show in the hands of a guy with a vendor. I was standing/talking at our local Carbine guy's table and saw it behind him walking down the aisle and flagged him over. High wood stock with two cracks, original dogleg trigger group, type I band, but had repop hinge plate and recoil parts and the grip is the wrong era. Still, the price was excellent. He wouldn't budge. It falls in the been messed with category.

I traded for my M1A1 from a collector friend, it was good, the stock had some kind of slight issue, but was a good one. I needed some money and had it at 2 or 3 gun shows, ended up selling it in Tulsa for less than I wanted to.
And I am sure over time I will sell or trade other things I'll regret. At least I know some items have gone to good homes
