Hello all. I have a fairly early, 3.28 Saginaw S.G. Not a restoration, seems to be all original. Has a "square S" marked rear sight, with hardly any finish on it. Only finish on the sight appears to be remnants of black paint, mainly on the base part. Looking at the rest of the rifle, so does the buttplate; traces of black paint. Anyone ever seen paint on SG carbines?

Winchester was known for grey paint.
Can you post some pictures?

I have seen black paint on several butt plates.  I think it might be an invasion black out type of thing?

Well, better late than never! I took a few pictures, not the best in my opinion, but show what I am talking about.
