Whenever I'm in Austin, after having lived there for 21 years previously, I make it a point to visit the Camp Mabry Museum. Camp Mabry is the home base of the Texas National Guard, and owns some primo property in Austin. Anyway, I liked a display they have right now that features a combination of an Inland M1 Carbine, and an M1A1 Thompson Submachine Gun. I thought I'd share some photos...

If you are ever in Austin, the Camp Mabry Military Museum is kind of a hidden gem, with an amazing array of items on display. They have no advertising budget, and whenever I get the chance, I like to mention them for those who may be visiting Austin, and also for those who may live nearby, and possibly never heard of it.

crashtestnewbie,

Yes, it was an Inland. To me, it seemed pretty unremarkable, and the stock appeared to have been varnished. I liked the way it was displayed, though.

The last time I was there, they let my buddy and I in the vault, but the lady who let us in last time was not there the day I visited this time. I hope to be able to spend some more time in there to see what other Carbines they have.
