Are you looking for another one and going to trade some of what you have to
get a Nicer M1A1 ? These prices...and not knowing the main part of what they do to throw off a buyer or to deceive a buyer is why I haven't boughten one. The only time I get to see them in my Hands are in Houston or Dallas International Gun Shows. The Saxet Gun Show that comes everywhere around d here you don't see none of them.

I guess it's how willing one is to look at what they're buying when it comes to a M1A1 stock. The action is more than likely not original and if it just so happens to be it's most likely has been rebuilt. Taking into account that your average rebuilt carbine goes in the neighborhood of 750 to 800, then whatever is left price wise is the stock. You can find plenty of M1A1's in the area of 2500 to 3500 and a few of those are CMP rifles. The ones where sellers are asking 5k or more are usually some of the worst examples of them out there.

Ones truly worthy of that amount don't see the light of day that often.

I can't remember the butt plate number now, but I think it was even since that's all I seem to see. Pics of the plate are in the CMP thread from mid last year but I didn't relay the story of acquiring it.
I've replaced the hinge and recoil plate and did the leather, but never acquired the rivet setting tool. the one from Tandy didn't work. The grip is still the RI3.

The fall a year ago there was another para at shows I should've bought but didn't know what to look for at that time. Price was either 18 or maybe even down to 14 since nobody was buying it. He was dumbfounded saying it was real.

A seller out of texas was here a couple of times, once with a 2nd block for a little over 3. It was very nice and had a decent look. Would've recommended it at high 2s.

Whats the Deal with the RI3 marked on it. Is that a Tale about the M1A1 Stock being Original or Not ? I was looking as some late last night on forums back Posts and Google. Should it be there or Not ? Just Curious and I'm writing details for my Knowledge. I looked at so many I got the fever to try to find one. It seems to me that there are more things to look for than just the M1 Carbine and that most of them are incorrect. I would hate to spend 4 to 5k just to find out its worth no more than $2,500.
