Interesting article from Newsletter # 320, 11/01/2003. Often we all discuss firing steel case ammo through our carbines. I have used Wolf in my AO commercial with zero issues....good for the range and cheap.

Interesting article and photos for sure. Thanks for sharing. I'd still never use steel case ammo on any firearm.

Hi Donnie,

I fire the Wolf through my AO beater....no issues to date, that's why it gets fired through an AO!
If it needs an extractor down the road, no worries....I rebuild them in my shop and have the tools plus it gives me an excuse not to use my "brass stash"....

Funny this was brought up; found some within a small lot I acquired yesterday.
Some on strippers and some loose.

ncin1911,

Nice score! I guess the timing was right. I was going through some old newsletters and thought this topic would be of interest with the article posted. Thank you for your pics and reply.

Saw this ammo on GB, had no idea that there were manufacturers other than Lake City producing steel cased ammo in the 50's but apparently Frankford Arsenal was too.

They still look great too, unless the seller has cleaned them. I can tell you right now modern day Tula would not look that good 60 something years later no matter how good they were stored haha. Thanks for the post, I did not know other arsenals made it either. Even one year before lake City that is mentioned in the above article

I believe that Evansville Chrysler also made steel cased carbine ammo.

I would be curious to know what the latest date of steelcased 30 carbine ammo is out there. We at least know there's a 55 and a 56, wonder how far out they made it?
