This w bolt in on my new Bavarian Win 5,813,---. There appears to be a .U. under the left lug. Has anyone seen this before?

I've had lots of Winchester round bolts and some but not all have a symbol there of some kind, most likely it's an inspector's mark.

CCNL 355 6 & 7 Million Winchester Update mentions various markings on the underside of the right lug and that they are believed to be inspection marks.

It is possible that these markings are on Winchester round bolts in the 5 million range. More reporting is needed.

Oops, my post was incorrect. The mark on my bolt is under the RIGHT lug and not the left. My bad.
I just looked at CCNL 355 and tend to agree. I believe my SN was made right at the end of 1944 just as the 6 million block was starting. Thanks for the tip, Dan. Be well.
