Just picked up a NPM carbine, originally from CMP. Can't figure out the hammer marking. Appears to be an I with periods on either side, one period more prominent than the other. Or is it an L? Anyway, any guidance would be appreciated!

Most likely a missing or very light strike when stamping the 1st character. ie.. HI, NI ect..

From what I've read, only Inland and NPM had any stamps using the letter I so it just about has to be one of those, most likely Inland.
