I have had this Underwood for years. As believe it's all as it should be. Ser# 2601xxx Date 1-44 It has the S on the receiver.

That's a beauty. I also have an S code (United Shoe) but it's nowhere near as nice as yours. Rarest of the Underwood subcontracted receivers and they don't show up too often.

Both your Inland and Underwood are very nice examples. Thanks for sharing with us. What's next?

Also, have you had a chance to prepare Carbine Data Sheets for these?

Home made data sheet. I will fill out a real one when I have time. Thanks for you interest and best regards to the cub.

Stock sling well ---- LWU
Hand guard. --2 rivet  MU
Front sight.---U on front
Front band.---unmarked
Trigger housing.---has a 4 on the left back side.
Hammer.---WU on side.
Mag. release.---U on inside.
Op rod.   .O.U. inside.
Bolt.---WU.
Recoil lug.---AU
Rear sight.---small s on left side.
 
  Hope this helps.

 Forgot to say there is no letter or mark on the pistol grip.

Dear Smoky 1,

I am trying to restore a carbine that is very close to yours in many ways. Another kind member who has been helping me out, directed me to this thread. 
For my carbine:
Serial number 258....
Receiver has an "S" stamp
Barrel dated 11/43
Every other parts are Underwood marked (the exception being the hammer - QU)
My question to you is this: Is your OP rod a type III or type IV? - My Op rod has a circled O U, and is a type IV, I am not sure that is correct, and was curious as to yours.
