I have had this Underwood for years. As believe it's all as it should be. Ser# 2601xxx Date 1-44 It has the S on the receiver.
Your thoughts.
Thanks.

That's a beauty. I also have an S code (United Shoe) but it's nowhere near as nice as yours. Rarest of the Underwood subcontracted receivers and they don't show up too often.

Both your Inland and Underwood are very nice examples. Thanks for sharing with us. What's next?
Also, have you had a chance to prepare Carbine Data Sheets for these? http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/forum/carbine-club-data-sheets_topic26.html |

Dear Smoky 1,
I am trying to restore a carbine that is very close to yours in many ways. Another kind member who has been helping me out, directed me to this thread. For my carbine: Serial number 258.... Receiver has an "S" stamp Barrel dated 11/43 Every other parts are Underwood marked (the exception being the hammer - QU) My question to you is this: Is your OP rod a type III or type IV? - My Op rod has a circled O U, and is a type IV, I am not sure that is correct, and was curious as to yours. Thank you for your help, Bob

The OP rod on my Underwood is also a type 1V with .O.U. in a circle. Thanks for your interest and hope this helps. Best regards Smoky
