After I removed the sling to inspect the I cut in my stock, I noticed that one tip is a C and the other is the solid metal cap.  Any chance there is a Type II to Type III Transition Sling, or is this a repaired Type II?  In addition to the worn areas, the IS oiler had some rust on it and the I cut was pretty dusty and dry so I believe this sling has been on the stock for some period of time.   Just wondering if this is something unique or fairly common?

Well the not so good of news, which I kind of expected, is this is not a "transitional sling".  I had one PM that confirmed it was a repaired sling.  I had read that they did this some due to the C tips coming off.  So the good news is I have proof of repaired slings with just one tip repaired.  Perhaps that's noteworthy?

Hold the presses...
CCNL 164 has an article showing a similar sling but tips were opposite.
References CCNL 70 about transition and how they used what ever they had left.
So this may not have been a repair.

That's interesting.  Any way to tell?  I can always take more pics.
