IBM AO Safari Carbine (Coined so by tenOCEE) The good stuff is here; including Bubba's work on a previously unmessed M1 Carbine. Happy Friday |

Yep,
Nice save. Sure looks better after you applied some heavy TLC. Appreciate you sharing the pictures. Question? The muzzle outer crown. Was this commonly found on AO- IBM's ? Betting it's going to be a great carbine to shoot! OH, No close ups of the scope ?? :-D Thx, Charlie-P777

Thank you Charlie. Believe IBM went to rounded profile crowns, on their undated barrels in spring 44. Prior, all flat crowns, IIRC. That darn scope. My dad asked what I was going to do with it. Told him; Throw it in the street!

Was the sling hard to remove? I've heard that they can be a PITA when they are backwards like that. It's looking pretty good now. What kind of scope was it that you threw in the street?

You guys miss nothing. Attempted to remove the incorrectly attached sling several times. Finally just made the decision to cut it off vs risking damage to stock. D tip MRT This is the second one I've aquired this way. I was able to remove that one but was indeed, a PITA. Scope is a Tasco but didn't take note of model. Not near me atm to look. Gifting to Dad If anyone is interested in the Numrich mount let me know. Just please don't install on a USGI carbine. Thinking about starting a nonprofit; M1 Carbine Rescue We will accept any neglected specimens; no questions asked. |

Very nice find despite bubba. Great pictures. Boiling action on the kitchen cooktop, I had to laugh, wondering if you had "permission".. May want to mention you used that turkey pan before Thanksgiving lol.
Are you going to do anything with the tap hole or just leave it as-is? If anything filled with grease it would be less noticable. |

She was guarding the stainless pots for sure. Not the first time she caught me, trying to build Dexter's laboratory in the kitchen!
Also was warned not to ruin another candy thermometer. There was a previous diy blueing salts incident.
I did buy two turkey pans; hope she doesn't use the one in garage. |

Yep, that stove top picture also made me laugh, this was my stove top a few days ago when the wife was away, not carbine parts but still enough to get in big trouble. |

Great photo layout. I was really happy to see it as I have a 3834--- AO/IBM. Also with a 11-43 barrel. It is nice to see what it probably looked like before it was rebuilt.
