	#138 Underwood Carbine, T subcontract receiver s/n 2381099 - LeMag .45 WinMag Conversion LeMag was the name of the company who made the conversions of .30 cal. carbines to larger more powerful cartridges in the 1990's. Judged theoretically unsafe due to the power of the cartridges, they've been in use now for over 20 years with no known failures. One owner in AK told me hunted with it without any issues. Larry's features a Choate fixed stock made specific for LeMag. The barrel is a commercial barrel with a gas piston housing modified for the .45 WinMag cartridge. Depicted in the 1990's Shotgun News ad included below are Uzi Gal, Timothy LeGendre (owned LeMag), and Mikhail Kalashnikov (holding one of the LeMag conversions). The color image of Kalishnikov holding a LeMag carbine was in Larry's files. Unknown where he obtained it. The barrel is longer than the barrel on the one being offered. Includes sling and magazine modified for .45 Winchester Magnum. The carbine below is depicted in War Baby! volume III, p. 1510, image 1745. Estimated Value: SOLD

	#159 Bullseye M1 Carbine, caliber .30 carbine Bullseye's carbine receivers were milled from forged steel to GI specs and feature a wide recoil plate tang. Bullseye used various GI surplus parts that were still available and they're included on this carbine. These are the carbines that preceded the carbines by Universal Firearms and some of the nicest commercial carbines made. The rear sight on this one was installed by Larry as a prop. It's a commercial flip sight with fake markings. The sling, an oiler, and a magazine are included. This particular carbine is the carbine shown in War Baby! volume III, page 1457, figure 1656. Those with the H & S markings preceeded the ones they subsequently made under the Plainfield Machine name. Unlike their Plainfield Machine operation became, these were machined and assembled only by Haas & Storck. They did a nice job. This one includes a number of surplus GI parts they used during the time they made these. The sling swivel is commercial, not original to H & S, and was added by Larry as the band it came with didn't have one. A magazine is included with this carbine. 	#157 Johnston-Tucker M1 Carbine, caliber .22 LR + shipping Johnston-Tucker was the first U.S. company to make a carbine in .22LR. Unlike the others they used surplus GI parts as they were still available at decent prices in the 60's. The receiver was made from aluminum. The hammer design was altered to work with the rimfire cartridge. The bolt and slide were designed as integral. With use over time the impacts of the slide against the receiver tended to snap the front of the slide off. This one is still intact. The original magazine was a GI 15 round magazine with a .22 magazine insert. Few still survive and an original one is included with this one. Includes sling, oiler, magazine. Multiple small rust spots on lower hinge assembly. There is a notation in Larry's notes of a claim this came off a decommissioned sub. Provenance not yet found. 	#165 Millville Ordnance (MOCO) M1 Carbine, caliber .30 carbine Millville Ordnance (MOCO) was the predecessor of H & S and Plainfield Machine. There have been many various stories by commercial carbine manufacturers and marketing people of the 1960's claiming they had made carbines for the invasion of Cuba. This is the only one we've found evidence proving it's kind of true. While building carbines for retail sales the owner of this company supplied a number of carbines to Bautista for the re-invasion of Cuba. The carbines were seized as they were loaded on a plane in Miami. As a result the owner of MOCO was indicted in Federal court and incarcerated. Leading to the start of H & S carbines then Plainfield carbines. MOCO carbines were built using commercial receivers. The barrel on this one is a 2 groove 1903 barrel inserted into the rear half of a demilled GI barrel. Common for many manufacturers during the early to mid 1960's due to a lack of surplus barrels and no company had yet to make them. Not inherently unsafe. See the MOCO web page. 	------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ #204 Howa Model 300 Sporting Carbine, caliber .30 carbine After the occuptaion of Japan Howa was the first company allowed to manufacture a firearm. The firearm they manufactured was their Model 300 sporter. Used for deer and small game hunting in Japan. Howa had carbine experience. During the occupation they manufactured carbine and M1 rifle parts under contract to U.S. Army Ordnance as replacement parts. Howa attempted to obtain a U.S. based importer for these without success due to the volume of surplus GI carbines and commercial carbines already available at prices less than what it cost Howa to make these. The only Model 300's that made it to the U.S.A. were a couple provided as samples to prospective U.S. importers and a few brought back by U.S. service members stationed in Japan who bought them. These tend to be the later versions of the Model 300 made in the 70's and 80's. This Model 300 was their first version of this model, manufactured in the 1960's. Howa provided it to Ithaca Gun Company in Ithaca, NY, for consideration of importing Howa's Model 300's. It has Ithaca's import mark stamped in the handguard and top of the stock to the left of the bolt. The import mark and locations infers this example was imported circa 1969-1972, after the 1968 Gun Control Act requiring the import mark but before ATF set import mark guidelines. It's difficult to come up with an estimated value on this one due to it's rarity stateside. Only other like it we found was brought back by a service member and sold for over $1600 several years ago. These are considered collector's items. Both here and in Japan. They are a piece of history. This one includes it's original magazine. 	Wooden toy M1 carbine Has no markings identifying the company who made it. It may or may not have been made using parts of a rejected carbine stock. This example appears in War Baby vol III p. 1618, fig 1946. Price: SOLD ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ruger 10-22 Tribute model, .22 LR Ruger 10-22 Carbine with M1 carbine style "Tribute" stock by the E. Arthur Brown Company. It has the carbine style TechSights 100 Set (front and rear), a "dummy" M1 Carbine magazine cover attached to the base of a standard Ruger factory 10 round magazine, along with the sling and oiler. Note the damage to the top of the handguard just forward of the receiver (shown in the pics). This is the 10-22 shown in War Baby, Volume III, page 1652, figure 2025. Price: SOLD

	(left click on an image to view a larger version) #181 Williams Gun Sight, #2 of 50, Custom Sporterized M1 Carbine, caliber .30 Carbine, s/n U346 About 1964 or 1965 several dozen carbines were manufactured by Plainfield Machine for Williams Gun Sight who customized them and introduced them as a limited series of 50. According to Williams they actually produced and sold less than 30. This is #2. Sporterizing surplus military rifles for hunting was popular in the 1960's. From 1965-1968 Williams Gun Sight catalogs included instructions and various parts for this purpose. While no longer popular this custom job is not only very rare but beautiful. Williams used a custom Mannlicher style stock and handguard made by Reinhart Fajen. From the Williams catalog: "This Williams sporterized M1 Carbine features a thumbhole-pistol-grip Mannlicher stock that is tastefully checkered and hand finished. Metal is completely refinished and blued. The magazine is shortened to a five shot. Receiver sight is the new WGRS-M1-CAR with precise windage and elevation adjustments and positive locks. The front sight is a .312 Ivory bead on a 9/32" Shorty ramp. Swivels and the attractive carved leather, guide carrying strap complete the unique sporterizing of these collector pieces." Surplus GI parts were still available at the time Plainfield manufactured this carbine. This carbines has An SG flat bolt, Underwood slide, Plainfield trigger housing with several GI parts. The barrel was manufactured by Small Arms Mfg for Plainfield. Williams customized many carbines in the 1960's but none are as beautiful as their limited series of 50. We have no idea what to ask for it. You decide what it's worth to you and make us an offer. It's definitely a rare beautiful piece of carbine history.
