Crosman M1 Carbine, BB rifle (wood stock)
Includes the original Crosman magazine (1). This item is in used condition (see photos). The slide/bolt works. The cocking mechanism works but it does not fire. It may just need a new gas gasket (readily available many places) but it has not been disassembled for close inspection. Larry purchased this in 1987. His kids may have used it. It's intact with normal aging. $ SOLD (To view a larger version click on the image) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Crosman M1 Carbine, BB rifle (dark brown plastic stock) Includes the original Crosman magazine (1). Universal Firearms 256 Ferret Carbine w/Weaver side scope mount and unmarked scope
This carbine is in very good to excellent condition. Universal chambered it for the .256 Winchester Magnum cartridge. The receiver was milled from forged steel and is of their earlier design, not their hybrid they produced 1967 and later. It has a GI bolt, firing pin, slide, and a few of the smaller parts inside the it's Universal Firearms trigger housing. The front and rear sights were made by Williams Gun Sight. The scope has no markings but presents a clear image. Includes the sling and original Universal Firearms 10 round magazine depicted in the photos. If we can locate a set of .256 WinMag loading dies in this collection they will be included at no extra cost. Underwood M1 Carbine converted to 5.7 MMJ by Johnson Arms
The 5.7MMJ markings on the top of the received behind the bolt identify this as a conversion done by Johnson Arms. Their conversions involved replacing the barrel with a commercial barrel sleeved for 5.7mm Johnson. Beyond this it depended on what extras the owner wanted. In this case it appears the Williams rear peep sight was the only other modification. The 5.7mm cartridge does not require alteration of the bolt or any parts other than the barrel. This carbine retains it's .30 cal. carbine markings on the receiver ring. Note the receiver finish. I suspect a previous owner may have removed a high polished finish sometimes typical of the Johnson conversions. The GI bolt, slide and trigger housing appear to have retained their finish but for signs of wear from usage. The stock is a GI oval cut highwood stock. This carbine is the carbine shown in War Baby Volume III, page 1502, figure 1737. It will include a certificate of authenticity identifying it as part of The Larry Ruth Collection. Further on the GI carbines converted to 5.7mm by Johnson Armscan be found on our web page devoted to the 5.7mm carbines. Wooden toy M1 carbines made using rejected carbine stocks began appearing in various sales publications towards the end of WWII. Then continued for a number of
years after the war ended. These were manufactured by several different companies. Some, but not all, indicated their name somewhere on the toy. Some of this history can be found on our forum here: http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/forum/wooden-toy-carbines_topic3142.html This specific example appears in War Baby vol III p. 1618, fig 1945. It was part of the Larry Ruth Collection. It has no markings identifying the company who made it. Larry believed it was manufactured by Parris-Dunn, one of the well known manufacturers of these toys. Others now suspect it was manufactured by a different company. This example will include a certificate verifying it's authenticity as part of The Larry Ruth Collection. Price: SOLD Please submit questions or a desire to purchase by a private message here on the forum. Note: This post has been reworded after input from a member more familiar with these toys than I am. Thanks much! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (To view a larger version click on the image) Edited by Dan Pinto - Feb 10 2023 at 7:11pm |

This specific example appears in War Baby vol III p. 1617, fig 1944. It was part of the Larry Ruth Collection. It has no markings identifying the company who made it but appears to be, or very similar too, those having the name Emergency Equipment Co., Grand Rapids, MI painted on the bottom of the hand grip. These markings are not present on this particular toy.
Price: SOLD -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (To view a larger version click on the image) The advertisement below is presented for comparison to a known Emergency Equipment Co. toy carbine. Edited by sleeplessnashadow - Feb 11 2023 at 7:27am |

#207 Irwindale Arms Inc. (iai) 1911 in caliber .30 carbine, stainless, 6 inch barrel, one magazine, in original box.
Note the small amount of rust on top of the slide adjacent the rear sight as is typical with the Automag pistols and their blued rear sights. Also a few small spots forming inside the slide's serrations that provide a grip for operating the slide. This particular handgun appears in War Baby vol II p. 778, fig 755. Price: SOLD |

#141 Liberty Armory M1 Carbine, caliber .30 carbine, s/n EXP 01
Liberty Armory was Club member Larry Horner. During the 90's he assembled all of the carbines for Firearm's International and Israel Arms International, and iai. After the demise of iai he acquired a number of their receivers and commercial parts in lieu of money they owed him. He used these to assemble a number of carbines such as the two iai carbines above. To which he added the Liberty Armory name. At some point prior he constructed his own limited number of carbines using the Liberty Armory name. This was his first and a prototype. The barrel and receiver are commercial. The stock is an M2 potbelly GI. He used various surplus GI parts when he constructed this one. Included are the sling and a magazine. He used a plastic dowel in place of an oiler. Larry Horner knew carbines and how to manufacture them. He had his own large collection from WWII manufacturers. #167 Rowen-Becker M1 Carbine, caliber .30 carbine
This was one of the first commercial carbines made. Rowen had been contacted by Bob Penney at National Ordnance in response to Rowen's ad in Shotgun News claiming he could manufacture .30 cal. carbine parts and receivers. Securing a contract from Penney Rowen had Rymer Casting manufacture the receivers and a few parts then had his machinist machine them. When Penney received the first shipment the receivers had not been threaded correctly. Penney cancelled the contract. Rowen used the receiver and parts to build his own carbines in the Rowen-Becker name. Becker was his investor and not involved other than financially. The bolt and slide on this example are GI surplus. The barrel was constructed using a 1903 barrel inserted into the rear half of a demilled Rock-Ola barrel. This carbine includes the sling, oiler, and a magazine. Note: This carbine was manufactured in 1960. As you can see from the photos Rowen was not and did not have a highly skilled machinist. This carbine may be unsafe to shoot. It needs to be inspected by a qualified gunsmith before firing. Price: SOLD http://www.m1carbinesinc.com/carbine_rowen.html |
