Hi all, I have this 4.61 Rock-ola barreled receiver that I bought a while ago as a project. Looking at the barrel proof tonight, I think it may be a QHMC proof but I would like some opinions. The BR has been refinished at some point but the barrel looks like it's been there a while.
Here is a picture of the P on the RO BR: https://i.imgur.com/B03pSLV.jpg Here is a reference P on a QHMC that I own. https://i.imgur.com/78QR3NW.jpg Here is a reference P on another RO that I own (1.7). https://i.imgur.com/365FLzl.jpg Album to see all 3 at once: https://imgur.com/a/crQQZxm |

It's still a Rockola and valuable.

Definitely, in any case I think I got a fair deal on it and I'm happy to own it. Just wanted to get a better understanding of the differences between RO and QHMC proofs. These are quite similar as I see them in hand, with the presumed QHMC proof being a little more "plump". But I was also not sure if the RO proof changed at all between serial blocks. The barrel looking like it has been intact for a good while gets me scratching my head too. |

For the sake of discussion, any opinions on whether the proof in the 1st picture picture is Rock-ola or QHMC? To my eye, it seems very close to the proof on my barrel (2nd picture), with the short stick and plump P.

Yes. The pic came from a set in an old thread about a Rock-ola bring back carbine over on CMP forum that was recently revived. It's a 4.62 serial that appears original to me, not far from my serial. That proof looks more QHMC like than the other ROs that I own but those are 1.7 and 6.08 serial ranges. It has me scratching my head again, as it doesn't look like my BR has had the barrel changed for a long time. |

Okay, I'm with you now. Back when I first looked at that thread there was something that said.. nevermind. I've said too much already.
