Picked this barrel up as a shooter a while back in a trade deal. ME is a 1, short skirt with NO markings other than the P. I knew what I was getting and the owner told me the makers marks had been removed. No indications of an import mark, but Bubba had filed-off the makers-mark. Maybe he thought he was actually removing an import mark? Anyway, I had my buddy and fellow forum member 03man, put turn lines on it in his lathe, which completely removed Bubba's messy scars where the makers-mark use to be. Now I have an unmarked barrel. The owner told me he removed it from a SG and I have no reason to doubt his story.

Swagged gas cylinder, short skirt without another mark save the P. I am wondering if there are any characteristics of an SG barrel that could possibly deliver a clue as to it's origin. The P measures .1355 on my cheap calipers and 75-year old eyes.

Anybody?

FWIW, the P on my S.G. General Motors (undated) barrel looks about the same size and font as yours, although mine took a bit of a bounce when applied.
