In newsletter #320 there is an article about WRA receivers being salvaged after having a drill run out while drilling the receiver for the operating spring. Yesterday I found a WRA at a local gun show with the exact same repair as that show in the newsletter. Thought I would share here in case someone has encountered the same thing.

It appears to be in original condition. Except for the Lakeland show the shows around here have not been that good regarding carbines. The WRA was a walk in.

The only thing the seller said was he had had it a long time. It's really a nice looking piece has a type 2 dogleg hammer and SW safety.

Around here, They'd never make it in the door. I've done pretty well over the years by Tailgate Sniping. But haven't been to a show in over 2 years. Lately my best leads have been coming from a 'Want to Buy' note pinned on the message board at my Rifle Club, 5 miles North of me as a Crow flies. About 8 miles driving around the country block. That and a Gun store next county over that calls me for 1st Dibs on any Carbine they get in on Consignment or trade ins. I give them a write up on what they have and If I pass they list on Gunbroker. I believe I've purchased 7 from that Gun Store, but would have to check my log. I've Been currently servicing our Rifle Clubs Carbines. These were DCM, NRA, CMP and Donated Carbines. Started out with me and a Korean War Armorer. But his health is failing, so it's just me now. Started out with 135 Carbines. I have 75-85 to go and pick up 10 at a time. Club needs them back ASAP, so really limited on being able to really ID Parts for each. They use these guns for CMP and other Competition, leisure shoots for members and their guests. I was shocked at the Spare Parts in Bulk packaging they have on hand. Most purchased through some DCM program (IIRC) for affiliated clubs years ago. I found 2 Chests of NOS in wrap full barrel assemblies. But so far not a barrel having to be replaced. I'm not allowed to take pictures or share Serial Numbers. But I list what Serial# and Maker Carbines when I take them and return them. I didn't hear I couldn't share a Partial Serial #. Congrats Ken nice WRA! | Around here the guys that stand either near the front entrance or just inside are mainly considered lowballing scumbags. I am not saying all of them are like that, that wouldn't be the case, but most of them are just hoping for some poor, ignorant soul to take advantage of. |

Very nice. Pretty cool to have that “salvage” variant. I don’t have CCNL #320, but wonder if it is known roughly how many were in that run-away drill incident or if it was a significant amount. I guess they would all be close to that 1293xxx serial? Love the unusual stuff. Thanks for sharing. ------------- Chad USN Retired |

| Newsletter #58 mentions a few showing up in the 1,200,XXX to 1,300,XXX. The one in newsletter #320 is a 5,617,XXX so I guessing it might have been do through out production. Newsletter #171 also talks about other manufacturers doing the same thing. |
