Saw on Numrich, muzzle brake for the M1/M2. How effective are they?

The Recoil Check (muzzle brake) was designed for use for the M2 carbine in order to reduce muzzle climb when firing at full auto. As far as use on an M1 carbine I have not noticed any difference in firing with one attached but it does look kinda cool.

According to reports from Aberdeen in 1952 (WB2 p. 568), addition of a recoil check to the 30 carbine reduced recoil energy by 17%.

With full auto, I've found the difference noticable but slight.

Its main effect absent the $200 tax stamp is to increase the blast back to the shooter giving the carbine a louder bark to those ears. It sounds cool.
