If you haven't seen it already, the page on the real M3 Carbine is up for viewing .... and it may surprise you a bit.

The .30 caliber Carbine, Model M3
http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/modelM3.html" rel="nofollow - http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/modelM3.html

  • Absent a select fire kit a carbine with a sniperscope is not a Model M3.

  • Winchester was contracted to manufacture 15,000 of them

  • The "M3" markings were to be placed on them by Winchester

  • Documentation found so far indicates the Model M3 Carbine was an accessory for the early Model M2 Sniperscope. We have yet to locate a change mentioning the late Model M2 Sniperscope or the M3 Sniperscope but still searching

  • The long mount bracket eliminating the need for a T3 receiver for mounting the sniperscope on a carbine was introduced by American Optical with the Sniperscope, Infrared, Set No. 1 20,000 volts that included the Model M3 Sniperscope. (But you'll have to wait on this info until the pages on the M3 Sniperscope).

There have been several updates to the page on the T3 Carbine in relation to Inland. We are still actively searching documents at the National Archives and elsewhere to fill in missing dates and info.

The .30 caliber Carbine, Model T3

The web page currently under construction is for the Snooperscopes & Sniperscopes that used the Model T120 telescope.

Folks, thanks to everyone has been helping us learn by sharing information. We have gotten a lot farther with cooperation than we could without.

And we're not done. This is still a very active research project that will bring a number of facts and surprises to everyone. Any helpful information anyone can provide is very much appreciated. Our names aren't going on the work as credit goes to all.

Jim
