I was looking at the serial number page and i noticed that early Inlands had a serial number range from 11 to 999,999. What is the lowest (or smallest) serial number anyone has, or has senn?

Thanks, Jim

Jim, 11 to 99 were engineering models which I do not believe were made with production machines. Basically "one offs" made before production. Or at least not all production sequence. These had  parts that are different from production
If you look in for sale section, number 20 was sold.

If you look in some early manuals and publications you will see the most printed, the famous number 18. it is owned by a club member.

100 to 999,999 were production numbers.

Post your lowest numbers, this might be fun!

No, Dan -- that's my lowest 4 digit. It has an 8-42 barrel; but, 3446 has a 6-42.  220xx is my lowest 5; 110xxx is the earliest 6 digit. Was once offered a 3 digit but it fell through.
I'm more interested in finding high numbers, now.

Above link to low number article with picture followed by the number 20 that is now sold.

Early on the barrel dates were all over the place. However carbines were being delivered. This would suggest that receivers were sidetracked or more likely it was a case of first in last out.
By that I mean receivers were being stacked or put in crates and workers were grabbing the top ones.

As to the lowest number, its at  Springfield Armory museum. But not on display. It was run through tests but never saw any action.

It was one of the five tool room carbines. But it was not made by Inland!   So is it really an Inland?

Never seen a 5-42 barrel, does it have a pinned slide stop?

By the time it got to Korea it had been through at least one rebuild. So it does not have the original slide. I do not think I have ever seen a pinned slide stop
