Having researched the fit of recoil plates, I am wondering about the exceptable gap between the plate and the stock. I have seen several stocks with cracks in that area. My thought is that too much gap on a shooter would not be good for the stock.
Anyone have any thoughts?

That's a good question Charles. I've always thought a tight fit with no gaps is ideal though I had a shooter once that had a wider gap and it shot well.
