Saw this early QHMC in a local ad so I went to see it and ended up buying it. It appears to be pretty original and is interesting in that it has a type 1 NPM trigger housing. There is documentation in War Baby that NPM sent trigger housings to QHMC during the time this Carbine was assembled. The hand guard which matches in color is marked IO. I can't find any documented lateral support of hand guards from Inland so I think this may be a replaced part. An other interesting feature is the staking of the rear sight. At first glance it looks like it had been staked for an adjustable sight but if you look closely there are no chisel marks and one of the punch marks is so close to the flip sight that it marked both the dove tail and the flip sight. In the QHMC update in the CCNL #334 they mention QHMC using this type of rear sight staking on early receivers. I think this might be an example of that. The barrel band has been repaired but the front sight does not look like it has ever been removed. Hope you enjoy the pictures and any comments are always welcomed.

Thanks for your response. I'll get some better pictures of the stake marks and check if type 2 receiver later today.

Nice carbine! Nice find!
Is that a small "W" on the top of the recoil plate between the 9 and 10 o'clock position?

Hello Ken,
Nice find! My two earliest Qualities -- 1.550 and 1.565 both have Rock-Ola 1-43 barrels.
1.550 has a GE-Q with no stake marks, chisel or punch. 1.565 has a GE-Q with punch marks just like yours and as described in the NL.
SF,
Bill

Dan -- they're in the back row of the safe. Once I have them out and the camera charged, I'll take some out of focus pics ;-) and post. They are as described.

Bill

I have a 1.57 with a Rock-Ola 11-42 barrel that didn't have noticeable stake marks. It was for that reason that I put a genuine flip sight on it.

I'll have to dig it out and look at it again one of these days.

note the type 2 springtube notch on the stock--nice one-rare to find in that condition

Also, notice the front ring comma (,) after the 30 and before the M1
This tiny detail was present on all early QHMC carbines and went away somewhere between serial number 1621877 and 1626569. Nice find.
