Came across a member with a IO 2 marked bolt. It has the pointed right lug that has a Serif S stamped on the outer edge.
I'll add a link here so you can see his pictures.Any information appreciated. Thx, Charlie-Painter777 LINK: https://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=60280&p=395258#post395258 |

I believe on of the newsletters has something on them.
I have a Inland 307xxxx that has 11 or II on the lug like what you show. COM 353-11 shows a similar bolt. A guess would be that as they transitioned to the different lug they put lot numbers or letters on them to signify they were updated. Will check my notes when I can

Dan,
I dug out NL 353 and see the pointed lug, IO 1 marked bolt with either II or 11 stamped on the outer right lug of COM 353-14. Another member Cali201 reported having a IO 1 with a 7 on the Rgt lug. He didn't state if it was a pointed lug, but I suspect it was. Our thoughts are very similar as to why these are stamped there. I believe it was done in house by Monarch. On the earliest versions of these pointed lug style bolts and that these letters or numbers were used for tracking, or some type of inspection stamp or lot code. Very possible after having no problems, they must have discontinued this extra marking. Reason being otherwise more would have shown up down the road. You know how it is............. these things can get under your skin and eat at you. What I didn't realize was that the pointed Rgt lugs came in use so early as the 3,025 mil reported in the NL 353-8 Dan, I really appreciate your time and effort. Thank You...........
