Quality Hardware produced their last carbine in April 1944. It is not possible that a barrel dated 6-44 would be original to that receiver. 

As far as the handguard goes absolutely no USGI carbines were ever manufactured with a ventilated metal handguard, it is a aftermarket commercial item.
