Tri-State Tool and Die Both welded and rewelded M1 carbine Barrels in the Early 1960's although it has been noted that they made only around 100 carbines, the reality is they made over 4,000 M1 Carbines. I have direct correspondence from Tri-State and Ed Anthony of Gastonia in original Envelopes dated 1962 about these deals. The deal was, Ed Anthony would both produce completed receivers and Demilled torch cut receivers along with bent and cut barrels and barrel ends. Tri-state would reweld their own with many of the demilled parts. I knew Ed personally and talked to him about this back in the 1990's. The guy Ed had at the time doing the welding was a gentleman named Larry Dellinger who rented a machine shop from Ed and payed rent by doing work for Ed. Larry was a really great welder and machinist and would do the work on his spare time. But Tri-State had a Contract down in Mexico to sell the carbines but they cancelled and so many of the Carbines went to Panama and Nicaragua. They had and FFL and an import export license for firearms at the time. While dealing with ed, they were also dealling with gentlemen from New Jersey and Numrich for the parts. When they went out of business, Plainfield purchased all of the parts. My father was a good friend of Eds who sold many guns throughout the years for Ed and rewelded many of the M1 Carbines when at my Grandfathers machine shop in exchange for guns. When Ed Anthony Passed away, his son and Mother allowed my father to have all of the old paperwork they were throwing out like correspondence and my father being a historian / geneologist kept all of this paperwork. It includes thousands of letters from Ed to People who purchased or sold items to him from the early 50's through the 80's. Many of these are businesses who are out of business. My father passed away June of this year and I have been finding many of his papers and since I know that people are interested in some of this stuff, I will post some of it on here. I hope that you all enjoy some of this history.
