Greetings from Connecticut. I'm a C&R holder who has 2 M1 Carbines and 1 M1 Garand. Hopefully adding another carbine (Underwood - made here in Ct.) soon.

Hi Missileman and welcome to the forum from New Mexico!
Check out these links to info on the Hartford, Bridgeport and New Hartford Underwood factories, among others. Perhaps you may have the opportunity to actually visit these locations. I can only dream. http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/forum/where-are-they-today_topic1381.html Also here's a link to the Underwood Newsletter Archive. https://archive.org/details/underwoodtypewritercompany?sort=-date |

Those places were all gone when I was a kid - even the huge Pratt & Whitney Factory in North Haven (I lived across the street from that place) is now literally gone - 2.5 million sq. feet.
Winchester was still in New Haven, some of my wife's family members worked there in the 50's & 60's but they're long gone now. Mossberg donated the land for our Little League field, but they're mostly gone from North Haven now. |
