This one is the nicest of my 5 Postal Meter M1's. Bought it from a Luxembourgish Policeman.
Hope you like it

It's a nice one. Do you know its history? Did it left behind in wwII?

Nice!

Great to see a double stamp S N front sight.

The chances that it has been picked up here after WWII are quite high as it doesn't have any foreign proof marks which would be mandatory for any use in Germany or other countries around (at least if you want to shoot it). But I don't know for sure. On the other hand it doesn't look as if it has been messed around with.

Here in Luxembourg, after the battle of the bulge, a lot of weapons have been picked up and hidden away.
I have talked to a guy recently who was selling a nice G43 that has been picked up during the last days of the war. And myself I have a G43 too that was discovered in the attic of an old house when the owner died and his widow was selling the house. Our authorities are fortunately quite relaxed with historic weapons like that as long as you officially register them afterwards.

Did you fill out a data sheet and submit it to the club?

If not please do. Original carbines are very helpful to research

I have filled out the data sheet for all of my carbines but never transmitted them.
Several reasons for that:
1) I am not always 100 % sure that I was doing it correctly
2) I am hesitating to disassemble the bolt although I have the tool (but it still seems to be tricky)
3) I haven't disassembled the triggers of all my carbines yet (in fact for most of them I haven't)
4) I am unsure with some of the measurements (inch vs. metric system)
5) I don't know how I could get the data sheets to you, I can scan them and mail the pdf but to whom.

But I will improve Smile

Divide millimeters by 25.4 to get inches.

http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/forum/carbine-club-data-sheets_topic26.html

Top has a link walking through filling out sheet.
Where to email at bottom of post

For bolt disassembly always use tool. Solid tab for taking down. No need to take it out of tool! If yo dod take it out of tool then slotted side to assemble.

If afraid of parts flying do it in a large ziplock or plastic bag.

Excellent videos on how to take apart trigger housing and reassemble without any tool

http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/forum/how-to-videos-and-links_topic1084.html

If there was a possible error someone would contact you for clarification.

Then there is the general discussion area where i am sure many would help you through.

That is a nice carbine.
On front sight notice how the S N is marked both front and rear.

On the measurments it is not to critical. You could fill in mm.
Funny, in the states it seems just about every ruler is both inch and metric

Thanks for the links. I will try it out on the weekend.
As I said, Trigger housing I have already done but not the bolt yet. With the help of the video it should work.

The website about the data sheet I had already seen. Unfortunately you need to be a premium member to download the pdf. I usually don't like to have my notebook next to where I disassemble my carbines Big smile
